COURSE CURRICULUM

The Visual Effects for Film, TV and Animation program provides students with a strong combination of creative, artistic, and technical skills required for careers in animation, film, television, and digital media production. In Year 1, students build foundations in 3D modelling, animation, drawing, digital photography, compositing, concept art, lighting, creative coding, and visual communication. They also develop communication and professional skills while learning industry-standard software and workflows. Year 2 focuses on more advanced technical and production skills, including rigging, matchmoving, media capture, pre-visualisation, texturing, compositing, motion graphics, and character animation. Students also work on collaborative CG projects, film studies, and effective teamwork while gaining experience in creating complete animated sequences and visual effects pipelines. In Year 3, learners specialise further through modules in digital sculpting, matte painting, effects creation, advanced rigging, portfolio development, project management, and professional career preparation. Students also complete advanced compositing projects and work collaboratively on a major short film or CG production that reflects real industry environments and workflows. Employment placement provides valuable professional experience and exposure to the animation and visual effects industry. Throughout the program, students learn how to combine storytelling, technical production, artistic design, and teamwork to create high-quality visual content for film, television, animation, gaming, and digital entertainment industries.
