COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Development & Performance program provides students with a strong combination of practical and theoretical knowledge needed for careers in the sports industry. In Year 1, students build foundations in anatomy, physiology, coaching, resistance training, exercise psychology, wellbeing, communication, and sports development. They also gain practical experience through multisport activities and coaching skills. In Year 2, the course develops expertise in sports performance, nutrition, fitness assessment, sports injuries, event management, marketing, movement analysis, and sports psychology. Students learn how sport interacts with society while improving analytical and leadership skills. Practical event planning and performance analysis also prepare learners for real-world sports environments. In Year 3, students focus on advanced topics such as coaching technologies, safeguarding and ethics in sport, exercise for special populations, sports governance, quantitative analysis, and the relationship between sport, exercise, and health. A major feature of the program is the work placement or study abroad opportunity, allowing students to apply their knowledge in professional settings while gaining valuable industry experience and communication skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in coaching, sports development, fitness, athlete performance, event management, and community sport, supported by industry-focused learning and practical experience throughout the program.
