COURSE CURRICULUM

The Forensic & Pharmaceutical Science degree is an interdisciplinary program that combines forensic investigation, analytical chemistry, biology, and pharmaceutical science to prepare students for careers in laboratory, healthcare, and scientific industries. In the first year, students build strong foundations in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and crime scene investigation, alongside essential laboratory skills and scientific techniques. In the second year, they progress into specialised areas such as pharmaceutical microbiology, instrumental analysis, biochemistry, forensic evidence examination, inorganic and physical chemistry, statistics, and pharmaceutical science, with a strong focus on hands-on laboratory work and analytical methods. Students also develop skills in quality control, data analysis, and pharmaceutical production processes, including regulatory and manufacturing standards. In the final year, the program focuses on advanced topics such as forensic toxicology, drug analysis, molecular and immunobiology, pharmaceutical technology, and quality assurance in regulated environments. Students gain deeper expertise in advanced instrumental techniques and applied scientific problem-solving. A major feature of the program is a substantial work placement, typically in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or medical device companies, where students apply their knowledge in real industry settings. This practical experience strengthens employability and professional development. Graduates are well prepared for careers in forensic laboratories, pharmaceutical industries, research organisations, and quality control roles, with strong analytical, technical, and laboratory competencies.
