COURSE CURRICULUM

The Creative Broadcast and Film Production BSc is a skills focused program that prepares students for careers in the film, television, radio and wider digital media industries. It covers a broad range of production areas including cinematography, editing, sound design, screenwriting, visual effects, photography, journalism, event production and broadcast technologies. Students develop both creative and technical abilities through practical, studio based and on location learning, supported by industry relevant theory and media studies. In the first year, learners build core skills in camera work, sound fundamentals, editing, digital storytelling, photography and media ethics while gaining an understanding of film history and production processes. The second year develops more advanced production skills through short film projects, lighting, cinematography, script development, creative editing and sound production, alongside event planning and professional practice. The third year focuses on industry level production, including studio and outside broadcast work, advanced film production, sound for film, VFX compositing and professional industry preparation, with optional specialisms such as podcasting, digital set design and event marketing. A major feature of the program is the extended industry placement in the final year, where students gain real workplace experience. Graduates are prepared for careers in broadcast media, film production, digital content creation and related creative industries.
