COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Sports Science with Strength and Conditioning program provides students with a strong foundation in exercise science, athletic performance, and strength and conditioning practices. Throughout the course, students study anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, nutrition, psychology, resistance training, and movement development while gaining practical coaching and communication skills. The program places a strong emphasis on the scientific principles behind athlete preparation, speed and agility training, endurance development, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance testing. Students also learn advanced weightlifting techniques, power and force development, sports profiling, and the use of modern sports technology and analytics in athlete monitoring and performance enhancement. Specialised modules explore conditioning for youth athletes, para sport, and special populations, allowing learners to adapt training programs for different needs and abilities. The state-of-the-art SportsLab facility provides hands-on practical learning through sprint tracks, Olympic lifting platforms, GPS systems, and performance technology equipment. In the final year, students examine current trends and evidence-based practices in strength and conditioning while developing research and analytical skills. A major feature of the program is the 600-hour work placement, where students gain industry experience, improve teamwork and communication skills, and apply their academic knowledge in real-world sports and fitness environments.
