COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Sports Science with Sport and Exercise Nutrition program combines exercise science, nutrition, health, and athletic performance to prepare students for careers in sport, fitness, and nutrition industries. Throughout the course, students develop a strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, strength and conditioning, sports psychology, movement development, and performance testing. A major focus is placed on nutrition, including metabolism, nutritional assessment, sports nutrition, nutrition across the lifecycle, public health nutrition, supplements, food safety, and the relationship between diet and disease. Students also study injury prevention, return-to-play strategies, endurance training, speed and agility development, and power production for athletic performance. The program emphasises practical learning, helping students develop coaching, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional skills that are highly valued within the sports and health sectors. Learners gain experience in using sports technology, statistical analysis, and research methods to support evidence-based decision making in performance and nutrition settings. Modules also explore ethical practice, behaviour change, professional branding, and content creation for the modern fitness and nutrition industry. In the final year, students complete a substantial work placement within a sport, health, or exercise nutrition environment, allowing them to apply academic knowledge in professional settings. Graduates are prepared for careers in sports nutrition, fitness coaching, athlete support, health promotion, performance training, and exercise-related industries.
