COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering with Energy program is structured to progressively build both fundamental engineering knowledge and specialised expertise in energy systems over four years. In the first year, students develop core skills in communication, mathematics, engineering science, mechanics, materials, and workshop practices, alongside introductory electronics and CAD. The second year deepens understanding through subjects such as statics, materials science, control systems, engineering economics, and renewable energy technologies, while also introducing practical projects like power generation and thermodynamics applied to energy systems. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced topics including mechanical systems design, control and power technology, combined heat and power systems, battery technology, and statistical analysis, supported by a significant industrial placement that provides real-world experience and professional development. In the final year, students undertake a major research project and study advanced modules such as system dynamics, HVAC systems, electrical power systems, and computer-aided engineering. The program concludes with subjects focused on sustainability and energy management, including smart grids, renewable energy systems, and environmental management. Overall, the course integrates theory, practical learning, and industry exposure to prepare graduates for careers in mechanical and energy engineering sectors.
