COURSE CURRICULUM

Computer Engineering – BEng (Hons) program provides comprehensive education in computer engineering combining hardware, software, networking and mathematics. In year one students build foundations in programming (Java), electronics, networking infrastructure, mathematics, communication skills and computer systems. Year two deepens knowledge through object-oriented programming, Linux system administration, digital electronics, telecommunications, calculus, probability, engineering economics and wireless networks while introducing integrated projects and hardware-software design. Year three focuses on embedded systems, data communications, discrete mathematics, data analysis, agile software development and IoT, alongside a significant industrial placement to gain real-world experience. Year four develops advanced expertise in software design, distributed systems, digital signal processing, databases, agile methodologies, cybersecurity and enhanced networking technologies including IoT and SDN. Students also complete a major capstone project applying industry-standard tools, research methods and project management practices. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on problem-solving, practical laboratory work, system design and professional development, preparing graduates for careers in software engineering, network engineering, embedded systems and IT infrastructure. Industry placement and final year dissertation ensure strong employability and research capability. Graduates gain strong analytical, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills aligned with evolving global technology industry demands and are well prepared for professional certification and further postgraduate study opportunities worldwide in industry sectors today
