COURSE CURRICULUM

This Automation and Robotics program provides a comprehensive blend of engineering fundamentals, practical skills, and advanced technologies across four years. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in mathematics, mechanics, engineering science, materials, and communication, alongside hands-on workshop practice and computer-aided design. The second year deepens knowledge in electronics, control systems, sensors, and automation, while introducing robotics concepts through practical programming and system integration using tools like RoboDK. Students also develop skills in engineering economics and data handling. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced topics such as robotics programming, vision systems, mechatronics, networking, and statistical process improvement, combined with a significant industrial placement that provides real-world experience. The final year emphasizes specialised areas including industrial control, manufacturing automation, robotic vision, enterprise networks, and connected devices within the context of modern smart systems and the Internet of Things. Students also complete a major research project, applying accumulated knowledge to solve industry-relevant problems. Throughout the course, there is a strong emphasis on practical learning, problem-solving, and project work, ensuring graduates are well prepared for careers in automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing industries.
