COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronic Engineering with Computer Systems (BEng) program develops students’ expertise in electronics, programming, telecommunications, and computer systems through a structured blend of theory, laboratory work, and project-based learning. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in analogue and digital electronics, electrical technology, C programming, engineering science, mathematics, and problem-solving skills through introductory projects that develop teamwork and communication. Year 2 advances into more complex topics such as analogue circuit design, microcontrollers, digital systems, CAD design, simulation, networking principles, and advanced C programming, alongside engineering mathematics and collaborative projects that simulate real engineering challenges. Students begin to design, build, and test electronic systems while gaining experience in telecommunications and embedded systems. In Year 3, the program focuses on advanced applications including digital communications, networking, data acquisition, PC interfacing, microcontroller systems, object-oriented programming, and advanced analogue electronics. Students also study specialised mathematics for engineering analysis and complete a significant industrial work placement. This placement allows them to apply their knowledge in a professional environment and gain industry experience. Across all three years, the program develops strong technical, analytical, and practical skills, preparing graduates for careers in electronics, embedded systems, telecommunications, networking, and computer-based engineering roles, with excellent employability supported by hands-on training and industry engagement.
