COURSE CURRICULUM

Computer Engineering BEng develops skills in hardware, software, networking and systems administration for careers in computing and electronics industries. In the first year, students build foundations in network infrastructure, computer systems, electronics, mathematics, communication skills and Java programming, supported by hands on laboratory work in circuits, networking and basic software development. In the second year, learning advances into object oriented programming, Linux based computer systems administration, digital electronics, calculus, probability, engineering economics and wireless communication technologies. Students also complete a year long project designing and building a microcontroller based alarm system integrating sensors, hardware and software. The third year focuses on advanced computing and engineering topics including embedded systems, data communications, agile software design, data analysis and visualisation, discrete mathematics and advanced programming techniques. Students also study network performance, IoT applications and software engineering practices for large systems. A compulsory industrial placement provides real world experience in ICT environments, strengthening practical and professional skills. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on problem solving, system design, analytical thinking and practical implementation, preparing graduates for roles in software engineering, network engineering, system administration and embedded systems development. Graduates gain strong industry readiness through projects, labs, and placement experience and applied learning overall.
