COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng in Agricultural Engineering develops students into skilled technicians for the agricultural machinery and farm technology sector, combining engineering science, practical training, and industry-focused learning across three years. In Year 1, students are introduced to core areas such as engineering science and mathematics, electrical and electronic systems, tractor engineering, workshop processes, machinery operations, CAD and computer applications, and practical project work involving repair and fabrication of agricultural equipment. This builds essential hands-on and theoretical foundations. In Year 2, students complete a major 30-week industrial placement in dealerships, contractors, or international agricultural operations, gaining real-world experience. Alongside this, they study advanced engineering science, electrical systems including CAN bus and ISOBUS technologies, modern tractor systems, workshop administration, business management, computing applications, and agricultural production systems. Year 3 deepens technical expertise through modules in advanced mathematics, hydraulics, materials and mechanics, CAD design, tractor systems, and diagnostics of agricultural machinery. Students also complete an individual technical project that applies their learning to real engineering problems while developing skills in communication, organisation, and problem-solving. Across all years, the program integrates theory with extensive practical training, preparing graduates to diagnose, repair, and manage modern agricultural machinery systems. The course ensures students are industry-ready, adaptable to technological advances, and capable of working in agricultural engineering, machinery servicing, and farm technology industries.
