COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Studies with Event Management degree combines creative event design with core business and management knowledge, preparing students to work in a fast-growing global events industry. The program develops practical skills in planning, organising and delivering events such as festivals, conferences, exhibitions and corporate functions, while also building understanding of marketing, finance, law, and project management. Students gain hands-on experience through live event projects, work placement or study abroad in Year 3, and regular industry engagement through guest lectures and fieldwork. Early modules introduce academic writing, business technology, accounting, marketing principles and event planning, alongside practical exposure to real event work. As the course progresses, students study areas such as event operations, design, production, HRM, social media marketing and legal frameworks, while also developing leadership and teamwork skills. Advanced stages focus on event project management, integrated marketing communications, strategic management, financial analysis and sustainability in events. A major emphasis is placed on experiential learning, with students planning and delivering real events and completing a research thesis in final year. Graduates are equipped for careers in event management, corporate events, tourism, marketing and entertainment sectors, with strong opportunities in Ireland and internationally. The course builds both creative thinking and business capability, enabling progression into supervisory and management roles across diverse event-related industries.
