COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance – BBus (Hons) program at Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest offers a comprehensive four-year curriculum that builds strong foundations in business, accounting, and finance while progressively advancing to professional-level expertise. In Year 1, students are introduced to core areas such as business communication, management, marketing, economics, financial and cost accounting, and quantitative methods, alongside basic IT and entrepreneurship skills. Year 2 develops more specialized knowledge, including financial accounting for companies, management accounting, taxation, Irish law, project management, and data analytics, while also preparing students for the workplace. Year 3 emphasizes practical experience through a compulsory work placement or study abroad opportunity, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings and develop key employability skills. Advanced modules in financial and management accounting, taxation, and company law are also introduced. In Year 4, students refine their expertise through subjects such as auditing, corporate governance, financial management, strategic decision-making, and international taxation, alongside a focus on ethics and sustainability in business.
