COURSE CURRICULUM

Music and the Live Events Industry is a practical four-year BA (Hons) program focused on preparing students for careers in live performance, music production, and the wider events sector. In the first year, students build foundational skills in stagecraft, live performance techniques, sound engineering, music appreciation, communication, marketing, and basic professional experience through hands-on projects. The emphasis is on developing confidence in performing, understanding live sound, and learning how the music industry operates. In the second year, students expand into ensemble performance, instrument maintenance, event management, finance, entrepreneurship, and work experience, while also gaining practical experience in organising live sound events and developing collaborative performance skills. The third year focuses on more advanced artistic and professional development, including arranging and orchestration, music pedagogy, management, social media strategy, and deeper industry engagement through placements and professional experience modules. Students refine their creative identity while gaining business and teaching-related skills. In the final year, learners integrate their knowledge through advanced stagecraft, professional practice, and a major capstone project developed and completed with supervision. They also study working in the creative industry to prepare for real-world careers. Overall, the program combines performance, technical production, business, and digital skills to prepare graduates for sustainable careers in music and live events.
