COURSE CURRICULUM

This interior design program develops students from foundational creative skills to advanced professional practice across four years. In the first year, students build core abilities in visual representation, spatial awareness, drawing, materials, and design theory, while exploring historical influences and developing confidence in creative problem solving. The second year deepens technical and conceptual knowledge through domestic interior projects, CAD drawing, material application, and understanding building regulations, alongside improved communication and presentation skills. In the third year, learning becomes more industry-focused, with commercial design projects, advanced visualisation techniques, and a professional placement that provides real-world experience and portfolio development. Students also explore contemporary design contexts and reflect critically on their practice. The final year consolidates all learning through advanced technology, building information modelling, and user-centred design approaches that consider ergonomics, sustainability, and inclusivity. Students complete a major independent design project based on research and real client scenarios, demonstrating their full range of skills. Additional modules in financial management and professional practice prepare graduates for the business side of the industry. Overall, the program combines creativity, technical expertise, research, and professional experience to prepare students for careers in interior design.
