COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning is designed to prepare graduates with advanced knowledge and practical skills to work with elite athletes, recreational participants, and specialised populations. The program combines rigorous academic study with hands-on practical training, emphasising evidence-based approaches to strength, conditioning, and performance optimisation. Students will develop expertise in exercise physiology, biomechanics, sports nutrition, performance testing, periodisation, and applied coaching strategies, enabling them to design, implement, and evaluate training programs across diverse contexts. The MSc is delivered in a flexible format, with full-time students attending two full-contact days per week over one year, while part-time students attend one day per week over two years. A central component of the program is the supervised research dissertation, which may be workplace-based, allowing students to address practical challenges and contribute to applied research in strength and conditioning.The program features guest lectures from international experts and is taught by staff with extensive professional experience working with athletes at all levels, including international standard. On-site facilities include a state-of-the-art performance suite with Eleiko equipment, a 30-metre indoor sprint track, sports halls, 4G pitches, an athletics track, and physiology and biomechanics laboratories equipped with advanced performance evaluation tools.Core modules cover Advanced Resistance Training, Explosive Conditioning, Metabolic Conditioning, Periodisation for Strength and Conditioning, Sports Nutrition, Higher Performance Sports Testing, Applied Research in Strength and Conditioning, and the Strength and Conditioning Research Dissertation. Elective modules include Strength and Conditioning for the Older Adult and Injury Rehab and Reconditioning. Graduates will leave the program as highly competent, research-informed, and industry-ready strength and conditioning practitioners, able to enhance athletic performance, manage specialised populations, and contribute to professional and academic development in the field of sports science.
