COURSE CURRICULUM
Students on the Master of Science in Industrial Networks and Cybersecurity will study a range of modules designed to develop expertise in industrial automation, networking, programming, and cybersecurity. The program begins with core subjects that focus on industrial systems and automation technologies. Industrial Control Systems introduces the structure and operation of control systems used in manufacturing and industrial environments. Advanced Industrial Automation builds on this knowledge by exploring modern automation technologies used in smart factories and Industry 4.0 environments.Programming skills are also an important part of the course. Programming I and II provide students with the fundamental and advanced coding skills required to develop and manage software used in industrial systems. These modules help students understand how automation systems, networks, and control technologies are programd and maintained.Students will also study Industrial Networks I and II, which focus on the communication systems that connect machines, sensors, and control devices within industrial environments. These modules examine network design, protocols, and the integration of industrial communication technologies. Cybersecurity is another key element of the program. Cybersecurity I introduces the principles of protecting digital systems from cyber threats, while Cybersecurity for Industrial Networks focuses specifically on securing industrial control systems and operational technology networks.Research and practical application are central to the program. Research Methods for Engineering prepares students to conduct technical research and analyse engineering problems using appropriate methodologies. Students will then apply their knowledge through either a Dissertation in Engineering or a Work-based Project, allowing them to address real industry challenges. The Professional Development module supports the development of communication, teamwork, and career skills required in engineering and cybersecurity roles.A special feature of the program is its strong connection with industry. Students learn about Industrial Control and Automation Systems, programming, industrial networking, and cybersecurity through a blended learning approach that combines academic study with practical experience. The inclusion of a work-based project helps students apply their knowledge to real industrial environments, building a strong link between theoretical understanding and commercial application.
