COURSE CURRICULUM

After completing this program, graduates will develop the knowledge and skills required to critically evaluate and apply data analytics techniques in a variety of professional contexts. The program aims to equip learners with a strong understanding of data analytics processes, systems, algorithms, and technologies used to analyse and interpret large datasets. Students will also learn how to use data ethically and responsibly while applying analytical insights to support decision-making in organisations. In addition, the program places emphasis on current research in the field of data science, enabling participants to review, analyse, and critically assess modern research developments and apply them to real-world problems. This prepares graduates to work effectively in data-driven industries and to contribute to the development and implementation of data science solutions.Throughout the program, students will study a range of specialised modules that build both technical and analytical skills. The Programming for Data Scientists module introduces programming concepts and tools used to manipulate and analyse data. Data and Data Storage Technology focuses on the systems and technologies used to store, manage, and retrieve large datasets efficiently. Statistics for Data Science provides the statistical foundations required to analyse data and identify meaningful patterns and trends. The Research Methods module prepares students to conduct academic and industry-based research, which is essential for the final project or dissertation.Further modules explore advanced data science technologies and applications. Infrastructure for Big Data examines the computing platforms and systems used to manage and process very large datasets. Data Analytics and Algorithms introduces analytical techniques and algorithmic approaches used to extract valuable information from data. Data Visualisation and Insight focuses on presenting data in clear and meaningful ways to support interpretation and decision-making. Finally, students will complete a Project or Dissertation, where they apply the knowledge and skills developed during the program to investigate and solve a real-world data science problem.
