COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Construction Project Management is structured over one academic year and is divided into two semesters. The program consists mainly of mandatory modules along with a small number of elective modules that allow students to broaden their knowledge in specific areas. The course is designed to provide a strong understanding of project management principles, financial and legal aspects of construction, leadership, sustainability, and research skills.In Semester 1, students study several core modules that build the foundation of construction project management. These include Management of Projects 1, which introduces the key principles and techniques used to manage construction projects effectively. Economics and the Construction Sector focuses on the economic factors that influence the construction industry. Financial Management develops knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and cost control within projects. Construction Law provides an understanding of legal frameworks, contracts, and regulations that apply to construction activities. Students also study Professional Development and Effectiveness to improve their professional skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. In addition, Research Methodology prepares students for conducting academic and industry-related research.In Semester 2, the program continues with more advanced modules. Management of Projects 2 builds on the concepts introduced in the first semester and focuses on more complex project management practices. Strategic Management explores long-term planning and decision-making in construction organisations and is offered as an elective. Management of People focuses on leadership, team management, and organisational behaviour in project environments. ICT for Construction introduces digital technologies and tools used in the construction industry. Sustainability and the Built Environment examines environmentally responsible construction practices. Students also complete a Dissertation, which allows them to carry out independent research on a topic related to construction project management. An additional elective module, Lean Thinking, focuses on improving efficiency and reducing waste in construction processes.
