COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc program is delivered through a combination of classroom-based and online learning to provide flexibility for students, particularly those who may be working in industry. Classroom modules typically consist of lectures followed by practical laboratory sessions on the same day. This structure allows students to immediately apply the theoretical concepts learned during lectures through hands-on activities and practical exercises. The program is also designed to support professionals who wish to study while working, as some modules can be taken on a day-release basis. Each semester, a balanced selection of elective modules is offered depending on student demand and available capacity.The course structure consists of both mandatory and elective modules. All students must complete the core modules Research Methods and Dissertation Proposal (10 credits) and the Dissertation (20 credits). The Research Methods and Dissertation Proposal module prepares students to conduct academic and applied research by developing skills in research design, data collection, and analysis. The Dissertation allows students to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the program to a substantial independent research project related to information systems or computing.In addition to the mandatory modules, students can choose from a wide range of elective modules that allow them to specialise in areas aligned with their interests and career goals. These elective modules include topics such as Agile Software Development, Business Intelligence, Business Process Analysis and Design, Cloud Application Services, Information Security, Data Mining, Design Patterns, Enterprise Web Development, Graph Theory and Optimisation, Human Centred Systems, Cloud Architecture, Information Systems Project Management, Mobile App Development, Organisational Renewal and Performance, and User Experience and Design. Through these modules, students can develop both technical and managerial expertise in modern computing and information systems.
