COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology is delivered primarily at the SETU Sports Arena in Waterford, providing students with access to state-of-the-art teaching and sports facilities. Classes take place every Monday during SETU term time from 10.15 am to 5.15 pm, allowing students to balance their studies with other professional or personal commitments. The program employs a blended learning approach, incorporating lectures, seminars, workshops, projects, e-learning, and placement opportunities to ensure both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Additionally, each semester includes one residential week dedicated to intensive coverage of a specific module, offering focused, immersive learning.In the first year, Semester 1 covers modules in Applied Sport Psychology, Contemporary Social Psychology, and Team Building Strategies, while Semester 2 focuses on Executive Business Coaching, Exercise Psychology, and Sports Performance Psychology. The second year continues with Semester 3 dedicated to Mental Skills Training and Semester 4 featuring the Personal and Professional Portfolio in Sport and Exercise Psychology. This structure ensures a gradual progression from foundational knowledge to applied practice, culminating in a portfolio that showcases the student’s expertise and practical competencies in applied sport and exercise psychology.
