COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Business Studies (Human Resource Management Stream) is structured across three semesters and is designed to provide students with both specialised HR knowledge and a strong understanding of broader business practices. The program combines academic theory with practical experience to prepare graduates for professional roles in human resource management and organisational leadership.In Semester 1, students build a foundation in business and HR management. Innovation Management and Design explores how organisations develop innovative ideas and strategies to remain competitive. Business Simulation 1 introduces students to decision making in a simulated business environment, helping them understand how management decisions affect organisational performance. Contemporary Issues in Business examines current global business challenges and trends that influence organisations. Research Methods develops the skills needed to conduct academic and applied research, including data collection and analysis. Contemporary Issues in HR focuses on current challenges and developments in the field of human resource management. Employee Relations Strategy examines the relationship between employers and employees and explores strategies for managing workplace relationships effectively.In Semester 2, the program focuses more strongly on leadership and strategic HR practices. Students may participate in an International Study Tour, which provides exposure to international business environments and HR practices. Business Simulation 2 builds on the first simulation and requires students to make more advanced strategic decisions. Leadership Development focuses on developing leadership styles and personal management capabilities. Employment Law introduces students to the legal framework that governs employment relationships and workplace rights. Human Resource Consultancy allows students to work on practical HR problems and develop solutions for organisations. Strategic International HRM examines how human resource strategies operate in multinational and global organisations.In Semester 3, students complete a major independent research or applied project. They may choose to complete a Dissertation, an Applied Business Project, or a Research Paper Series. The research paper option consists of three papers: Applied Research Methods, International Business and Politics, and Governance and Ethics. This final stage allows students to apply the knowledge, analytical skills, and HR expertise developed throughout the program to a significant organisational or research problem.
