COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Business in Economics and Finance is structured across three semesters and combines core business modules, specialist finance subjects, and a final research or applied project. The program is designed to gradually build students’ knowledge in business, economics, financial analysis, and quantitative methods. In Semester 1, students study a range of modules that introduce key business and financial concepts. Innovation Management and Design explores how organisations develop innovative ideas and strategies to remain competitive. Business Simulation 1 allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a simulated business environment where they make strategic decisions and evaluate outcomes. Contemporary Issues in Business examines current global trends and challenges affecting organisations and financial markets. Research Methods prepares students to conduct academic and applied research through the study of research design, data collection, and analytical techniques. Trading the Financial Markets introduces students to financial markets, trading strategies, and the analysis of financial instruments. Statistics for Data Analytics develops quantitative skills required to analyse financial and economic data.In Semester 2, students build on this foundation with more specialised and applied modules. Business Simulation 2 continues the practical decision-making experience developed in the first semester. Students may also participate in an International Study Trip, which provides exposure to global financial markets and international business practices. Applied Consultancy allows students to work on real business challenges in collaboration with organisations. Other modules include Financial Risk and Compliance Management, which focuses on risk assessment and regulatory requirements in financial institutions, Corporate Financial Analysis, which develops the ability to interpret company financial performance, and Monetary Economics, which explores the role of monetary policy, banking systems, and economic stability. In Semester 3, students complete a major independent project. They may choose to undertake a Dissertation, an Applied Business Project, or a series of Research Papers. The research paper option includes topics such as Applied Research Methods, International Business and Politics, and Governance and Ethics. This final stage allows students to apply the analytical, financial, and research skills developed during the program to a significant academic or real-world business problem.
