COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, students across the related agriculture degree programs complete a shared set of common modules designed to build a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, farm practice, and business skills. Specialisation does not begin until Year 2, and students only decide which stream to follow at the end of their first year. Currently, there are two streams available, allowing learners to choose the pathway that best aligns with their interests and career goals after gaining a broad understanding of the sector.During Semester 1, students study Applied Physics and Chemistry, Principles of Crop and Grassland Production, Farm Health and Safety, Academic and Personal Skills Development, and Digital Skills for Agriculture. These modules introduce the scientific principles underlying agricultural systems, develop safe working practices, and strengthen communication, academic, and technological competencies essential for modern farming. In Semester 2, students continue building their core knowledge through Basic Mathematics, Animal and Plant Biology, Principles of Animal Production, Farm Mechanisation and Regulations, and Agribusiness Management. This combination of subjects ensures that students understand both the biological foundations of crop and animal systems and the operational and regulatory frameworks that govern agricultural enterprises.By completing this common first year, students gain a balanced and comprehensive overview of agriculture and agribusiness, equipping them with the confidence and insight needed to make an informed decision about their chosen specialisation in Year 2.
