COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Hons in Software Systems Development is a comprehensive four-year program designed to prepare students for careers as versatile and innovative software developers. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation in programming, website development, systems analysis, software engineering, computer systems, mathematics, statistical analysis, and communication, ensuring they acquire both technical expertise and essential professional skills. Year 2 introduces more specialized topics, including data structures and algorithms, software development tools, web and database development, enterprise applications, computer networks, and computer security, alongside elective options that allow students to explore complementary disciplines such as psychology, languages, marketing, or sports science. Year 3 emphasizes applied and advanced learning, with opportunities for study abroad, professional certifications, industrial placements, and volunteer projects. Students also engage with cloud computing, NoSQL databases, mobile app development, digital transformation, and electives in emerging technologies or interdisciplinary areas, enabling them to tailor their studies to individual interests and career goals. In Year 4, the focus shifts to high-level software engineering practices, including DevOps, cloud application development, web application enhancement, enterprise systems architecture, application security, and data science, alongside a major two-part project that consolidates learning across the program.
