COURSE CURRICULUM
The BSc (Hons) in Physics for Modern Technology is a four-year full-time honours degree that combines physics, mathematics, engineering, and computing to prepare students for careers in high-tech industries. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in the core sciences including biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, while also developing practical skills in laboratory work and ICT. A work placement provides students with the opportunity to gain professional experience, apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, and build industry networks.In the fourth year, students study convergent technologies, semiconductor devices, photonics applications, nuclear physics, control systems, and smart grid technologies. Advanced modules in computational physics, research methodology, and a final-year research project provide an integrated, hands-on approach to independent study and experimentation. Electives in areas such as digital control, cloud computing, data mining, applied fluid dynamics, and advanced driver assistance systems allow students to develop expertise in emerging technology fields.Throughout the program, students gain a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them for careers in sectors such as electronics, telecommunications, renewable energy, photonics, and high-tech engineering.
