COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) in Creative Computing is a four-year program designed to provide students with a unique combination of technical computing skills and creative media expertise, preparing them for careers at the intersection of technology and creative industries. In Year 1, students gain foundational knowledge in creative programming, graphic design, user experience design, website development, digital imaging, pipeline design, computer systems, communication, and mathematics, enabling them to develop both technical and creative problem-solving skills. Year 2 expands these competencies with advanced modules in web and app development, graphic design, 2D animation, 3D modelling, audio and video production, database systems, and professional practice, allowing students to integrate computing and creative media in practical projects. Year 3 emphasizes applied learning and professional experience through opportunities such as industrial placements, study abroad, professional certifications, or voluntary projects, alongside advanced electives in areas including software engineering, 3D animation, digital graphic design, NoSQL databases, multimedia networks, and web application development. In Year 4, students focus on industry-relevant high-level skills, including mobile app development, project management, computer security, integrated marketing, multimedia databases, data visualization, and a major two-part capstone project. Additional electives allow students to specialize in areas such as 3D animation and transmedia, 3D lighting and rendering, advanced graphic design, advanced media production, e-learning, and instructional design. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and project management skills while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard software and technologies. Graduates emerge as versatile professionals capable of designing and developing innovative multimedia projects, interactive web and mobile applications, and creative software solutions, ready to contribute to Ireland’s growing digital and creative economy, as well as international creative technology industries.
