COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1 of the program, there is a strong emphasis on programming fundamentals to ensure students develop a solid foundation for the more advanced topics covered in later years. This initial stage focuses on building core coding skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities that are essential for success in computer science. Alongside programming, students study mathematics and physics, which provide the theoretical and analytical underpinning of the discipline. These subjects strengthen computational thinking, algorithm design, and an understanding of how hardware and software systems operate. Students are also introduced to fundamental computing concepts such as data representation, computer architecture, operating systems, and basic software design principles. From Years 2 to 4, students select a specialist stream aligned with their interests and career goals, allowing them to deepen their expertise in a chosen area of computing. Despite this specialisation, the central “spine” of the program remains software development, with programming modules continuing throughout all four years. This consistent focus ensures that graduates develop advanced coding proficiency, strong system design skills, and the ability to create efficient, reliable, and scalable software solutions. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, the program prepares students to adapt to evolving technologies and succeed in a wide range of computing careers.
