COURSE CURRICULUM
The four-year Computer Forensics and Security program equips students with the technical, analytical, and investigative skills needed to navigate the complex world of digital security and cybercrime. In Year 1, students gain foundational knowledge in programming, computer systems, mathematics, and physics while also developing creative problem-solving skills and practical abilities in website and web application development. Introduction to security and forensics lays the groundwork for understanding digital crime and data protection. Year 2 builds on these foundations with advanced topics in computer networks, operating systems, data structures, and applied cryptography, while introducing forensic accounting, fraud audit, and secure programming practices. Students also deepen their understanding of relational databases, statistical analysis, and mathematical methods essential for forensic investigations. Year 3 emphasizes applied and professional experience, including developer operations, network forensics, web application development, legal principles of computer forensics, and NoSQL databases, while offering opportunities for industrial placements, professional certifications, study abroad programs, and voluntary organization projects to gain real-world experience. In the final year, students explore advanced topics such as data mining, distributed systems, mobile app development, device forensics, network and system security, and online forensics. They also engage in substantial project work, applying their accumulated knowledge to practical challenges while integrating technical and investigative skills. Elective courses and free-choice modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional competence, ensuring graduates can secure, investigate, and analyze digital environments effectively. By combining technical expertise, forensic methodology, and legal understanding, the course prepares students to address cybercrime, protect sensitive information, and pursue careers as computer forensic specialists, cybersecurity analysts, and digital investigators capable of operating in both public and private sectors.
