COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year Architectural Technology program is carefully structured to build technical knowledge, digital expertise, and professional competence through a series of mandatory modules. In Year 1, students develop fundamental skills in Revit, CAD and Information Technology, alongside Studio 1a and 1b, which introduce design thinking and practical application. Core technical understanding is established through Building Performance and Services, Surveying and Recording, and Building Technology, Materials and Structures, ensuring students gain knowledge of construction methods, environmental systems, and structural principles.Year 2 advances this foundation with more complex study in Building Technology, Materials and Structures 3 and 4, and Building Performance and Services 3 and 4. Practice and Legislation modules introduce legal frameworks, contracts, and professional responsibilities, while Studio 2A and 2B strengthen design integration skills. BIM, CAD and Information Technology modules at this stage further develop students’ proficiency in digital modelling and information management.In Year 3, professional development becomes central. A mandatory Work Placement provides valuable industry experience, allowing students to apply their technical and digital skills in real-world environments. Academic modules continue with advanced Building Technology, Building Performance and Services, Practice and Legislation 3, Studio 3, and BIM, CAD and Information Technology 5, deepening expertise in construction detailing and project coordination.Year 4 focuses on advanced and specialised knowledge. Conservation and Adaptation, Environmental Building Design, and BIM and Representation modules explore sustainability, heritage, and advanced visual communication. Students complete a Design Dissertation and undertake Project Management and Practice, while Studio 4a and 4b consolidate their ability to deliver comprehensive architectural technology solutions, preparing them for professional practice.
