COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year Architectural and BIM Technology program is structured to progressively develop students’ technical expertise, digital modelling capability, and professional competence within the construction industry. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of architectural technology and Building Information Modelling through Architectural and BIM Studios 1 and 2, supported by modules in Architectural Communication and BIM, Construction Technology, Structures and Environment, and Detailing the External Envelope. Thinking and Learning Skills further strengthen academic development and problem-solving ability. This foundation ensures students understand building principles, technical drawing, environmental performance, and digital workflows.Year 2 advances both design integration and technical complexity through Architectural and BIM Studios 3 and 4, alongside continued study in Architectural Communication and BIM, Construction Technology, and Structures and Environment. The module Understanding Architectural Design broadens conceptual awareness, while Publications 2 enhances communication and presentation skills.In Year 3, students engage with more advanced technical and professional topics. Architectural and BIM Studio 5, Construction Technology 5 and 6, Building Energy Software 1, and Research Methods deepen expertise in digital modelling and sustainable performance analysis. Professional Practice 1 introduces management and legal frameworks. Students may choose electives such as Conservation 1, Entrepreneurship, Industrial Placement, or Studio 6 combined with Acoustics or Project Management.Year 4 consolidates professional readiness through advanced studios, Building Energy Software 2, Value Management, Professional Practice 2, and a two-part Dissertation. Students may also undertake Industrial Placement 2 and select electives such as Conservation 2, Construction Collaborative Technologies, Dynamic Thermal Simulation, or Building Pathology, preparing them for leadership in digital construction environments.
