COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology program is structured over three years to progressively build students’ technical expertise, digital proficiency, and professional understanding, with all modules designated as mandatory. In Year 1, students establish a strong foundation through Studio 1a and 1b, where they begin applying design and technical principles to practical projects. Core knowledge is developed in Building Technology, Materials and Structures 1 and 2, alongside Building Performance and Services 1 and 2, which introduce environmental systems and building functionality. Revit, CAD and Information Technology modules provide essential digital modelling and drafting skills, while Surveying and Recording strengthens students’ ability to measure, document, and analyse existing buildings accurately.In Year 2, the curriculum advances to more complex technical and professional topics. Studio 2a and 2b enhance design integration and problem-solving skills. Building Technology, Materials and Structures 3 and 4 deepen understanding of construction systems and detailing, while Building Performance and Services 3 and 4 expand knowledge of environmental control and sustainable performance. BIM, CAD and Information Technology 3 and 4 further develop digital collaboration and information management skills. Practice and Legislation 1 and 2 introduce students to legal frameworks, contracts, and professional responsibilities within the construction industry.Year 3 emphasizes real-world experience and advanced integration of knowledge. A mandatory Work Placement provides valuable industry exposure, enabling students to apply their skills in professional practice. Academic modules such as Studio 3, Building Technology, Materials and Structures 5, Building Performance and Services 5, BIM, CAD and Information Technology 5, and Practice and Legislation 3 consolidate technical expertise, sustainability awareness, and regulatory understanding, preparing graduates for professional roles in architectural technology.
