COURSE CURRICULUM
The Robotics and Automated Systems program is structured over four years and divided into eight semesters. Each semester includes mandatory modules that help students develop knowledge and practical skills in electronics, mechanics, computing, and automation technologies. In Year 1, students begin with the fundamental principles that form the foundation of robotics engineering. In Semester 1, the modules include Computer Aided Drafting, Electrical and Electronic Fundamentals, Engineering Mathematics 1, Static Mechanics, and Robotics Programming 1. These subjects introduce students to engineering drawing, electronic principles, mathematical concepts, mechanical structures, and the basics of programming used in robotics. In Semester 2, students continue with Electrical and Electronic Circuits, Engineering Mathematics 2, Dynamic Mechanics, and a Robotics Project. These modules focus on circuit design, advanced mathematical techniques, mechanical motion, and practical project work related to robotics systems. In Year 2, the course progresses to more advanced topics in automation and robotics technology. In Semester 3, students study Industrial Automation and Robotics, Engineering Mathematics 3, Dynamics 2, Robotics Programming 2, and Drives and Actuators. These modules help students understand how robotic systems operate in industrial environments and how actuators and mechanical systems enable movement and control. In Semester 4, students take Engineering Mathematics 4, a Mechatronics Project, Robotics Programming 3, Embedded Systems 1, and Introduction to Systems and Control. At this stage, students learn about integrated mechanical and electronic systems, embedded computing, and control systems used to manage automated processes.Year 3 focuses on applying robotics knowledge to industrial and network-based systems. In Semester 5, students study Industrial Compliance, Safety and Law, Engineering Mathematics 5, Computer Networks 1, Robotic Operating Systems, and Control and Human Interfacing. These subjects help students understand safety regulations, networking systems, robotic software platforms, and how humans interact with automated machines. In Semester 6, students can choose from several elective options such as Network Programmability and Automation, Industrial Studies, Computer Networks 2, Development Project in Engineering, Software Defined Radio, Work Placement, and Study Semester Abroad. These options allow students to gain industry experience, work on projects, or study in an international environment. In Year 4, the final year of the program focuses on advanced robotics technologies and research. In Semester 7, students study Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Industrial Networks for Robotics, Autonomous Robotics, and Power Electronics and Electrical Systems. These modules introduce intelligent robotic systems that can analyze data, make decisions, and operate autonomously. In Semester 8, students complete modules such as Robot Mechanics, Advanced PLCs, Deep Learning, and a Final Year Project. The final project allows students to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course to design or develop a robotics or automation system, preparing them for professional careers in robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing industries.
