COURSE CURRICULUM
The LLB program is structured over three years and divided into six semesters, allowing students to gradually build a strong foundation in legal knowledge while also developing analytical and research skills. In the first year, students focus on core legal subjects that introduce them to the fundamental principles of law and the structure of the legal system. They study areas such as Tort Law, The Irish Legal System, Criminal Law, and Constitutional Law. These modules help students understand how laws are created, interpreted, and applied in society. Students also complete Legal Research and Communications and Legal Practice and Procedure, which develop essential academic and professional skills including legal writing, research methods, and effective communication. In the second year, the program continues with important core subjects such as Contract Law and Land Law and Succession, which provide a deeper understanding of legal rights, obligations, and property-related issues. Alongside these mandatory subjects, students are offered a range of elective modules that allow them to explore specialised areas of law according to their interests. These electives include Employment Law, Evidence, Media Law and the Digital Environment, and Administrative Law. By combining core and elective subjects, students are able to broaden their legal knowledge while also gaining insight into modern legal challenges and developments.During the third year, students study advanced areas of law that are essential for a comprehensive legal education. Core modules include European Union Law, Company Law, and Equity and Trusts Law, which focus on international legal systems, corporate regulations, and legal principles related to trusts and property management. In addition to these mandatory subjects, students may choose from several electives such as Consumer Protection Law, Jurisprudence, and Family and Child Law. These subjects allow students to further specialise and explore different perspectives on legal theory, consumer rights, and family-related legal matters. Overall, the course structure ensures that students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for a professional career in law or further postgraduate study.
