COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Hons) is a four-year honours degree that provides students with a comprehensive foundation in business principles while allowing flexibility to specialise in areas such as Economics and Finance, Human Resource Management (HRM), Management, Accounting, or Marketing. In Year 1, students begin with a broad introduction to core business subjects, including Accounting, Microeconomics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Organisational Behaviour, and Management. They also develop essential personal and professional skills through group work, presentations, and report writing. Students have the opportunity to select one elective per semester, ranging from IT, languages such as Chinese, French, German, Irish, and Spanish, to Data Analysis for Business.Year 2 builds on the foundational knowledge from Year 1, expanding students’ understanding of Economics, Accounting, and mathematical techniques while introducing Marketing, HRM, and Business Law. Students also take modules in Costing, Operations Management, Career Development Skills, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Management Accounting Techniques, with an additional elective choice to tailor their studies to individual interests. Language options continue to be available, allowing students to enhance their global employability.By Year 3, students finalise their specialisation stream and study core and specialised modules aligned with their chosen field. Modules include Applied Quantitative Analysis alongside options such as Business Finance, Applied Finance, Financial Management, Digital Marketing Planning, ERP Systems, and Leadership & Problem Solving, depending on the stream. The second semester of Year 3 is a placement semester, offering opportunities for international placement, work experience, teaching practice, or entrepreneurial initiatives, giving students hands-on experience that strengthens their career readiness.In Year 4, students engage with strategic and advanced topics in their chosen specialisation while completing core modules such as Business Strategy and the Digital Economy. Stream-specific modules deepen specialised knowledge, including Financial Markets, Investments, Strategic HRM, Lean Practice, International Marketing, Applied Finance, and Brand Management. Elective modules provide additional flexibility, with options including Governance, Public Sector Economics, Social Psychology of Organisations, Sustainable Development, and Global Business Ethics. This combination of core, stream, and elective modules equips graduates with the technical, analytical, and strategic skills required to succeed in dynamic business environments both in Ireland and globally.
