COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Business Information Systems is structured over four years, integrating business knowledge with advanced technology skills to prepare graduates to drive digital transformation. In Year 1, students build strong foundations in accounting, management, statistics, and enterprise, alongside core technical modules such as Programming for BIS Professionals 1 and 2, Business Information Systems, Introduction to Web Design, and Business Systems Analysis. Modules in research and communication skills also ensure students develop professional and academic competencies. In Year 2, the focus expands to include marketing, business law, macroeconomics, probability and operations management, database management and design, data modelling, security, privacy and ethics, web design for eCommerce, and Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies 1, with elective options such as Macroeconomics 2 or Contemporary Issues in Management. Year 3 introduces more advanced and applied learning through modules such as Applied Quantitative Analysis, Big Data Analytics 1, Computer Network Fundamentals, and Managing Information Systems Projects. Students also gain valuable practical experience through a Start-Up Lab, International Placement, or Work Placement, and can select electives including Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies 2, ERP System Skills, New Business Creation, Organisational Psychology, or Practical Public Relations. In Year 4, students complete strategic and advanced technical modules including Business Strategy, International Corporate Strategy, Information Security Management Systems, Big Data Analytics 2, Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation, The Internet of Things, and Social Intelligence Analytics. Additional electives such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Sustainable Development, Small Business Management, and Supply Chain Management allow further specialisation, ensuring graduates possess both high-level ICT expertise and strong business acumen.
