COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management is structured over four years and is designed to provide students with both academic knowledge and practical skills required for careers in the global hospitality and tourism industry. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamental concepts of tourism, hospitality operations, and business management. Modules such as communication for tourism and hospitality, introduction to management, introduction to marketing, and restaurant service help students understand how hospitality businesses function. Students also study accommodation supervision, beverage and wine studies, front office fundamentals, and marketing mix for tourism and hospitality. In addition, the program offers language options such as French, German, Italian, Spanish, and English as a Foreign Language to help students develop communication skills for international work environments. Tourism system and tourism studies also give students a broader understanding of the global tourism industry.In the second year, the course focuses on developing more advanced business and management skills. Students study financial accounting, management studies, event management, and fine dining service, which help them gain a deeper understanding of hospitality operations. Subjects such as rooms division management, intercultural studies for the global workplace, and management accounting prepare students for leadership roles in the hospitality sector. Students also explore travel and tour operations, business research, economics for tourism and hospitality, and career development seminars. Language development continues during this year with further training in European languages to strengthen communication abilities in international hospitality environments.The third year focuses strongly on practical experience and professional development. Students complete a work placement in tourism and hospitality, which allows them to gain real industry experience and apply their knowledge in a professional setting. Alongside this, students study services marketing, applied revenue management, entrepreneurship and innovation, human resource management, research design, and business law. Some students may also participate in an academic study abroad semester, giving them the opportunity to experience international education and broaden their global perspective.In the final year, students concentrate on strategic and advanced management topics. Modules such as digital marketing, advanced services management, facilities and asset management, and strategic tourism and hospitality finance help students understand high level management practices. Students also complete a major research dissertation or applied research project in tourism and hospitality. This final stage of the program prepares graduates for professional careers in hotels, tourism organisations, event management companies, and international hospitality businesses.
