COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Accounting is structured over three years, with each stage building strong technical expertise and professional competence in accounting and related business disciplines. In Year 1, all modules are mandatory and provide a solid foundation in core areas such as Fundamental Financial Accounting 1 and 2, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Accounting Law 1 and 2, Management 1 and 2, Quantitative Techniques 1 and 2, Communications, and Computer Applications. These subjects develop essential skills in financial reporting, analytical thinking, legal understanding, management principles, and numerical methods. In Year 2, students progress to more specialised accounting and legal topics, including Financial Reporting 1 and 2, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting 1, Income Tax, Business Tax for the Self-Employed and VAT, Commercial and Corporate Law for Accountants 1 and 2, Corporate Finance in Accounting, and Information Systems 1 and 2. Introduction to Marketing is also included to broaden business awareness. In Year 3, the program advances to higher-level professional subjects such as Management Accounting 2, Advanced Management Accounting, Advanced Financial Reporting 1 and 2, Audit and Assurance 1 and 2, Corporation Tax, Capital Taxes and Succession, Advanced Corporate Finance 1 and 2, Strategic Analysis, and Strategic Positioning. This comprehensive structure ensures that graduates gain in-depth technical knowledge, strategic insight, and practical skills aligned with professional accounting standards, preparing them for careers in practice, industry, financial services, and the public sector, as well as progression toward professional qualifications.
