COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business in Sport Coaching and Management (Rugby) is a three-year honours degree that blends sports coaching, player development, and business management. This program is ideal for students passionate about rugby, coaching, and sports administration, while gaining strong business and management skills applicable across the sports industry.In Year 1, students build a foundation in coaching pedagogy, rugby player development, applied anatomy and sport physiology, foundations of sport management, IT, and professional writing and research skills. Semester 1 focuses on introductory coaching, player development, sport physiology, and foundational management, while Semester 2 emphasizes accounting for sport, rugby coach education, applied physiology, continued player development, and management principles.Year 2 develops specialized knowledge and practical skills in rugby coaching and player development, sports marketing, economics, finance, injury prevention, and strength and conditioning. Students gain hands-on experience through practical coaching modules, learning both theoretical and applied aspects of rugby coaching while understanding financial and business principles relevant to sports organizations.Year 3 advances students’ expertise in people management, sponsorship, fitness testing, and load monitoring, and offers opportunities for work placements, sports internships, and study abroad. Elective modules allow for personalization, including player development, coach education, community sport, sports performance analysis, and data analysis for sport.The program combines classroom-based learning with extensive practical experience on the pitch and in gym environments, ensuring graduates are ready for careers in rugby coaching, sports management, club development, or broader sports-related business roles. Students complete a work placement to gain real-world experience, developing both technical coaching abilities and administrative skills. This degree equips graduates with the knowledge, leadership, and practical skills to succeed in a competitive sports industry, with a focus on player development, coach education, performance analysis, and business operations.
