COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Fintech combines core and elective modules to provide students with a balanced understanding of both technical and business aspects of financial technologies. Core modules cover essential areas such as Blockchain Technologies, Financial Markets, AI for Finance, Payments and Transaction Services, Financial Regulations, and Data Governance, Ethics and Sustainability. In addition, students undertake a Research Elective, and gain practical experience through a Practicum or Internship, ensuring exposure to real-world fintech applications.Students can further tailor their learning by choosing two elective modules from options including Programming for Financial Data Science, Machine Learning for Finance, Leadership, Organisational Culture, and Human Factors in Fintech, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Fintech. Certain electives have prerequisites; for example, Machine Learning for Finance requires completion of Programming for Financial Data Science. All electives are subject to availability and a minimum number of students, ensuring meaningful engagement and collaborative learning.Assessment in the MSc in Fintech is designed to combine theory with practical application. Typically, modules are assessed 50% through continuous assessment and 50% via exams or project work. This structure encourages learners to apply technical and analytical skills in real-world scenarios, develop problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, and critically evaluate fintech solutions within financial and business contexts.Graduates of the program emerge with both the technical proficiency and business insight required to succeed in financial services, technology companies, consultancy, or entrepreneurial ventures. They will be able to design, implement, and assess fintech solutions, adapt to evolving industry trends, and contribute effectively to innovation and digital transformation in the financial sector.
