COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Cybersecurity provides students with an advanced understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, preparing them for professional roles in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The program blends rigorous technical knowledge with practical, industry-focused experience, enabling graduates to tackle complex security challenges in organizations and society. Core modules cover essential areas including Network Security and Penetration Testing, Security Fundamentals, Data Governance, Ethics and Sustainability, Cloud Architectures and Security, Cryptography and Blockchain, AI/ML in Cybersecurity, and Business Resilience and Incident Management. These modules ensure students gain both theoretical understanding and applied skills in securing digital environments. In addition to core modules, students can choose from elective modules such as Secure Web Development, Secure Application Development, Forensics and eDiscovery, and Malware Analysis. Certain electives build on prior knowledge; for example, Secure Application Development requires prior completion of Secure Web Development. All students may also take Malware Analysis, providing an opportunity to explore advanced threat detection and analysis techniques. This elective flexibility allows students to tailor their learning to specific career paths within cybersecurity. The program also includes a research elective and a choice of practicum or internship, providing real-world experience and exposure to professional environments. These experiences enhance students’ investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, while fostering critical thinking and teamwork.Assessment across the program uses a combination of continuous assessment, project work, and exams, with most modules typically balanced between 40% continuous assessment and 60% project or exam. This approach ensures that students are evaluated both on their understanding of theoretical concepts and their ability to apply them in practical, real-world scenarios. Graduates of the MSc in Cybersecurity emerge with the technical expertise, analytical capability, and professional experience needed to excel in roles such as cybersecurity analyst, security engineer, incident responder, or cybersecurity consultant, fully equipped to address emerging security threats and contribute strategically to organizational resilience.
