COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Business Analytics for Decision Makers is structured around a core set of modules designed to equip students with the analytical, technical, and leadership skills required to make evidence-based decisions in business contexts. Core modules include Business Intelligence, which introduces the tools and techniques for gathering, analysing, and leveraging business data; Statistical Methods, providing essential knowledge in data analysis and interpretation; and the Science of Decision Making, which explores frameworks for informed decision making in complex business environments. Students also study Effective Leadership in the Organisation to understand management dynamics, Data Governance and Ethics to ensure responsible use of information, and Data Visualization to communicate insights clearly. Research Methods and the Dissertation module provide the opportunity to conduct independent research, applying analytical methods to real-world business challenges and developing critical thinking skills.In addition to the core modules, students can select from elective modules, subject to availability and minimum student numbers. Electives include Big Data and AI in Business, offering exposure to emerging technologies and their application in business strategy; HR Analytics and Evidence-Based Decision Making, focusing on data-driven human resource management; Data Exploration and Preparation, teaching the practical steps to clean and structure data for analysis; and Strategic Project Management, which equips students to manage projects with an evidence-based and analytical approach. These electives allow students to tailor their learning according to career goals and interests.The combination of core and elective modules ensures graduates possess both a theoretical understanding and practical skills in business analytics. By the end of the program, students are prepared to work in roles that require the interpretation of complex data, collaboration with technical teams, and communication of actionable insights to stakeholders. The curriculum provides a strong foundation for evidence-based decision making, enhancing employability in business analyst roles and preparing students to contribute effectively to data-driven organisational strategies.
