COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Human Resource Management (HRM) is a three-year honours program designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of human resource practices and their integration within modern organisations. The course combines academic theory with practical, applied learning, enabling graduates to contribute effectively to HR strategy, employee development, and organisational performance. Delivered over six semesters, the program develops key competencies in areas such as recruitment, employee relations, talent management, employment law, and strategic HR planning. Students are introduced to core concepts in leadership, management, and organisational behaviour, and gain an understanding of how HRM interacts with other functional areas of business. An applied approach is central to the program, with lectures complemented by exercises, case study analysis, group work, debates on contemporary HR issues, and independent learning. The first year focuses on foundational modules, including Leading and Managing, Human Resource Management in a Strategic Business Context, People Resourcing, Employment Law, and Employee Relations. These modules establish a solid understanding of HR principles and organisational operations. In the second year, students progress to Managing and Developing Talent and Research Methods, while also selecting from electives such as Organisational Design and Development, Mediation and Conflict Management, Strategic Reward Management, International HRM, HR Analytics, and The Science of Decision Making, allowing them to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. The final year culminates in a dissertation, where students demonstrate their ability to research and analyse HR topics independently.High-achieving students have the opportunity to undertake a year-long, credit-bearing work placement between years two and three, providing valuable professional experience in real-world HR environments. Graduates emerge with strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, alongside a practitioner-recognised CIPD qualification, ready to pursue careers in HR, organisational development, and related management roles. The program prepares students to meet the evolving demands of the workplace, ensuring they are equipped to manage people effectively and contribute strategically to organisational success.
