COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the Supply Chain Management program at Maynooth University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of supply chain and operations management. The curriculum begins with core modules such as Supply Chain Management, Operations & Supply Chain Management, and Global Logistics & Supply Chain, which introduce students to the essential concepts and frameworks needed to understand the complexity of global supply chains. Complementing these are modules like Principles of Business Analytics and Technology & Supply Chain Digitalisation, which equip students with the analytical and technological skills required to navigate modern supply chains effectively.Project Management is another key component, enabling students to develop skills in planning, executing, and overseeing projects within the supply chain context. Sustainability is also emphasized through a dedicated module on Introduction to Sustainability in Business, highlighting the growing importance of sustainable practices in the industry.Students gain hands-on experience through the Supply Chain in Practice module, which offers practical exposure to real-world supply chain challenges. Further opportunities to apply their knowledge come from the Business Consulting Project and Placement Project, where students engage with industry partners to solve actual business problems, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice.Research skills are developed through the Actionable Insights Through Research module, preparing students to undertake the Dissertation, a year-long independent research project that allows them to explore a specific area of interest in depth. This well-rounded curriculum combines strategic understanding, technical skills, practical experience, and research capabilities, preparing graduates to excel in the dynamic and evolving field of supply chain management.
