COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Computational Thinking program is structured over three years and combines Computer Science, Mathematics, and Philosophy to develop strong analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills. In first year, students study four modules in Computer Science, six modules in Mathematics, and two modules in Philosophy, building a solid foundation in programming, mathematical reasoning, and critical thinking. In second year, the balance shifts slightly to six modules in Computer Science, four in Mathematics, and two in Philosophy, allowing students to deepen their computing knowledge while continuing to strengthen their mathematical and philosophical understanding. After second year, students may choose to undertake a one-year work placement or study abroad, depending on availability, which provides valuable practical or international experience. In third year, students complete six compulsory modules across Computer Science and Mathematics, along with six optional modules chosen from the three core disciplines, allowing for greater specialisation based on individual interests. Throughout the degree, students gain experience in multiple programming languages, starting with Python, Java, and SQL in first year, progressing to C, R, and Haskell in second year, and using languages of choice in final year projects. Overall, the program equips students with strong computational, mathematical, and analytical skills.
