COURSE CURRICULUM

The BCL Law and Languages program is structured over four years to provide a balanced combination of legal education and language development. In first year, students study 30 credits of Law alongside 30 credits in their chosen language, which can be French, German, Irish, or Spanish. Some languages can be taken at beginner or advanced level, while Irish requires a specific entry grade. This year builds a strong foundation in both legal principles and language skills. In second year, students continue with at least 30 credits each in Law and their chosen language, deepening their knowledge in both areas. They also have the option to take a 10 credit elective, which may include studying a second language or beginning a new one, adding further flexibility. In third year, all students take part in a study abroad program, either spending the full year studying or combining study with a work placement in a country where their chosen language is spoken. This experience enhances both language fluency and cultural understanding. In fourth year, students return to complete their studies, building on their international experience. Upon completion, they graduate with a BCL International degree, equipped with strong legal, linguistic, and intercultural skills.
