COURSE CURRICULUM

The MH201 Bachelor of Science program at Maynooth University is a flexible science degree that allows students to explore multiple scientific subjects before specialising. In first year, students study Mathematics as a core subject and choose three additional subjects from areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering Science, Experimental Physics, and Mathematical Physics. This structure allows students to experience different disciplines before making long term decisions. In second year, students continue with three of their first year subjects or may choose two subjects plus an elective or critical skills module. Students who perform well may also apply to transfer into specialised science degrees such as Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Data Science, Physics with Astrophysics, Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Chemistry, or Engineering and Computer Science programs, depending on subject combinations and grades. In third year, students narrow their focus to two subjects, and in fourth year they continue with either a double major or single major pathway depending on their interests and results. Throughout the program, students develop strong analytical, problem solving, and scientific skills, while also benefiting from flexible progression routes and opportunities to specialise in areas aligned with their academic performance and career goals.
