COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Creative Writing and English is structured to provide a strong foundation in both creative and critical skills during the first year, followed by deeper specialisation in later years. In first year, students take three 7.5 credit modules each semester in Creative Writing and English. In Semester 1, these include Introduction to Creative Writing, Foundational English 1 focusing on prose, and Climate Fiction, which explores contemporary environmental themes in literature. In addition to these core modules, students choose one other subject from selected subject groups, which may include Critical Skills, allowing for broader academic development. In Semester 2, students continue with Introduction to Creative Writing, along with Foundational English 2, which focuses on poetry and drama, and Literary Criticism and Theory, helping them develop analytical approaches to literature. They also continue studying their additional subject. In second and final year, students focus more deeply on Creative Writing and English, building advanced skills in both areas. There is also an option to take a 10 credit elective in second year, providing flexibility to explore other interests. Overall, the program combines creative practice with critical study, supporting both academic growth and artistic development.
