COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Childhood and Adolescent Studies program is structured around a set of modules designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and professional skills in supporting the development and wellbeing of children and young people. To achieve the master’s degree, learners must complete a total of 90 ECTS credits through a combination of mandatory and elective modules, along with a practicum and dissertation. Core mandatory modules include Critical Perspectives on Child and Youth Development, Research Methodologies and Design, and Governance and Professional Leadership in Child and Adolescent Practice, each worth 10 ECTS. Students are also required to complete a Practicum module worth 10 ECTS, which provides practical experience and opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in professional settings. A major component of the program is the Dissertation module, worth 30 ECTS, where students conduct independent research on a relevant topic under academic supervision. In addition to the core modules, students must choose one elective module worth 10 ECTS from options such as Curricular and Pedagogical Approaches in Early Learning, Interventions and Models of Care in Adolescent Practice, Contemporary Discourses in Early Learning and Care, or Contemporary Discourses in Youth Studies. Full-time students typically complete four modules totaling 40 ECTS in the first semester, begin work on their dissertation, and continue with topic-focused modules and the practicum in the second semester before submitting their dissertation in the final stage of the program.
